Half a Million Pages Served!

I can scarcely believe the response to my little book experiment. In the two weeks since the site went public we’ve been visited over 100,000 times and served up 500,000 pages. Makes me even more excited about forging ahead.

Thanks so much for joining in. Mike

Update – Nov 11th – 8:55 PM

Slashdot strikes again. There was a link to the site on Slashdot this afternoon and things got really strange for a few hours. Here’s what the server stats looked like:

Slash Peak

Update – Nov 17th – 11:00 AM

Things are still booming. 175,000 visits and three quarters of a million pages viewed. Thanks!

The quote “build it, and they will come” comes to mind

Hi Mike, I truly enjoy reading your blog. I have been an Apple user ever since the first Mac came out. This blog (and your book) brings a lot of interesting insights about Apple as a company. I visited the Mothership once before (oooh about ooomph years ago), and still remembered there was “pixelated icon” statues in front of the buildings. I wonder it they are still there?

    I’m from Jakarta, Indonesia

  4. That’s great Mike! Congrats!

  5. Yes, Mike, I think you’ve struck upon a new model for publishing–the stripper book. You keep dropping one piece of clothing at a time and it gets us pretty excited. I don’t have to go decide to buy a book and then wish I had the time to sit down and read it. Rather I get interesting tidbits day by day, and am left wanting more.

This will work best if you start going back and fleshing out some of the previous stories. (Will they show up on my RSS reader? I Hope so!) I want to know more about the keynote preparations. Then when you’re 70% done, put the rest of it in hardcopy only. We’ll run to amazon to buy the book.

BTW, I’ve seen RSS feeds that incorporate ads. If you can figure this out, it might help subsidize this venture.

    Best of luck–we’re reading.

    Hello Mike,
How bizarre that I stumble across an article about Mike Evangelist on boingboing.net. I kid you not; I woke up less than an hour ago and I was dreaming and oddly enough, Mike Evangelist was one of a handful of people in my dream. Not too clear but part of it took place in a white Merkur… It is interesting to read about your experiences as I was your neighbor growing up around your career often tagging along with your kids going to these places of business if only to run around and wrap eachother up in bubblewrap. I was always impressed and inspired by your enthusiam for technology, and your eye for design. A strange but pleasant surprise this morning.

  8. Hi Tom! – Glad to see you here. Mike

Half a million pages served? Ha! You just listed on Slashdot, get ready for that many pages in the next 24 hours. :-)

Regardless – we love it, keep up the good work.

Congratulations Mike. I enjoy reading your blog, especially the one where you talked about Jobs being demanding and telling that poor guy to deal with all the ipod headphones. That made me think twice about hating my own boss for asking for more.

Keep working on the book to make it great.

build it WELL, and they will come
