Carlos – I took a short flight to Chicago (about an hour), then a 14 hour flight to Shanghai from there. Too long!

Michael – that ‘look’ is caused by the use of fill-flash. Because the sun was behind me, my face would have been completely in shadow; using the flash on the camera filled in what would have been completely dark. It’s an old-fashioned technique. Here’s more info on how it works.

I must say, those are some pretty interesting buildings, but the first picture; it looks like you’re photoshopped in.

Maybe it’s just the internet culture we live in today that makes us skeptical of all photos, but it does look interesting.

Not that I think you’d have any reason to doctor a photo anyhow.

Maybe you could shed some light on how the picture was taken?

You’re in Shanghai!! I just were there at the end of January/beginning of February. It’s a nice city. Have you been to the top of the Pearl TV Tower? It’s the second largest building in the world and the first in Asia. Great view from there.
