Very interesting to say the least. (Can you say Windows for FREE? Maybe)

This Weeks "Paper War" is interesting, too.

I think Yahoo! is sitting on a lot more of the knowledge navigator (KN) pieces that Google is building. Part of the KN needs a good person information management (PIM) tool, includes address book, calendar, to do, notes. Yahoo has all of these and with good data structures underneath (they need a much revision to get them to the level needed, but it is not a huge amount of work). Google is missing a Calendar and its address book (in Gmail) is extremely poor. It looks like the Yahoo! "life engine" is on the right path, but it needs to get moving. Google looks like it wants to be a technology tool people use and not a digital layer in one's life.

On top of these tools a predictive engine can be built to give the KN interface.

There are two other companies that have some of the information and tools and/or the predictive engine. Apple in .Mac is sitting on a killer property, one that I would love to see be implemented better to pull of, what I have been calling and one's Personal InfoCloud. The .Mac file storage makes it a perfect candidate to get very close to the KN and keeping one's own files closest to you based on what you are doing (reading your calendar and moving your Keynote presentation to your work laptop and a copy (or a link to a copy) to your mobile device (incase you back over your laptop on the way to the presentation) you can e-mail it to somebody else easily. Paying attention to what we are planning on doing and what we have tied to those plans and the people we are doing things with. Not really rocket science.

Amazon is the fourth entity. They have some pieces of this, but have some good predictive engines that could be tuned for other purposes.

Aulia ,
Thanks for kindly reminds me those Purchases by Apple. :)

However, Astarte happened to be an offer to buy to Apple , it was the
same as Jobs bought the computer section from Lucas at 1986 which later developed into Pixar . I think those are not buy over examples ,since they're offered to Jobs to buy , and which Jobs devoted efforts to make them a solid product later on.

My opinion is Jobs would choose to work out something great , not to buy over great things.

When things is great , Jobs feels comfort on that and no need to buy it over.

nobodysir, you happened to be reading a blog of a former employee of Astarte, a company bought by Apple for its DVD authoring software. iTunes is also yet another software developed from the purchase of Casady & Green. Just two examples of Apple purchasing 3rd party companies to enhance their product lineup.

Hi, Fuji,

I think it 's not the Steve Jobs style to buy over another firm for achieving the technology he needs, he sees it's kind of hostile act. He would rather takes
respective collaboration with others, it's the big reason why he always wins.

Citing a prior interview , reveiled Steve Jobs' once got the chance ties up with Oracle to buy over Apple at 1997 before he is named CEO of Apple
again, however he finally refused to do so and retained his good sportmanship.

I would like to see Apple buy over Google at one point in time in the future.
It would be a perfect marriage between hardware, software, content, reach, and distribution.

I think it's more likely to be rollable, rather than foldable, but it is not too far off.

As soon as they figure out how to make foldable LCDs that don't get an ugly crease in them, I want a 12" PowerBook with a 23" display!
