To Mike & Sara,
Mike, I am sure you know about Apple as a company and you worked for the man who runs things there. I don’t see anything wrong with you writing about your experiences at Apple. It is what you experienced and nobody can take that away from you. The Rosa Parks thing was not your idea. I don’t now why Sara is getting on your hair about it. Just because you say that Apple’s posting made you google about her and do a little research is a good evidence of the effect that this gesture had on a lot of people. I am 100% sure that 70% or more of our black or white citizens in the mainland don’t now much about Rosa Parks. If you where a historian you would be writing a book about history, right? But I let you know that a lot of people appreciate the fact that you are telling YOUR experience at Apple, and we understand your point and your purpose.

Sara, we will be glad to see you lighten up and maybe when you do, you can start your own book/blog about your knowledge of history. I am sure you cannot write anything about your experiences at Apple, so let the man write. You can critique, but don’t blame him for something he is not responsible of. And don’t insult people for their ignorance of certain events in our history. I am sure you don’t know all the details about all our forefathers, all our liberators and all our patriots. That does not make you dumb or a Mc D’s addict for that matter. (I don’t know what a good Mc Chicken Supreme has to do with this but…)

The thing that questions your intelligence is the fact that after 15 years of using Macs, you attack Apple like it is the worst ever.

There are lots of consumer reports ranking Apple’s service and stores very high. So yes, maybe you had a couple of bad experiences like we all may have when we talk to another human. But don’t push all your anger at Mike because a lousy “bad apple” employee at a service desk was having a bad day a treated you awful.

I invite you to go ahead and change your computer, change your OS and try it for 15 years. Then you can compare and write about it 15 years from now. My question is, If Richard’s dad did not know about Rosa Parks and learned about it after seeing the post at Apple, would you still be “with him”? Or would you write to him and call him ignorant and blame him for working to much to raise Richard and not taking time to become a Historian?

Please lets be objective here.

Sara - I'm not sure what point you're trying to make...but I am sure that it's getting off the topic. I will however let your comment stay.

Apple? I've used the machines for 15 years. Ran a business, a home - a bloody life on them. Always bought them from a reseller. recently bought one from Apple. I've never known any organisation so capable of taking the joy out of anything. Miserable, poor customer service, shitty attitude. dreadful. Its my last Apple, and that makes me sad.

Steve Jobs? Just another money grabbing businessman. And the Rosa Parks thing? An absolute disgrace. Exploitative, self serving, arrogant and unpleasant.

You should also be ashamed that it took a computer company's advertising for you to find out about her. Don't you have schools over there - or are you just all too busy eating macdonalds to learn anything?

I'm with Richard and his dad -

"In the early stages of development of both iTunes and iPhoto, Steve continually pushed the engineers to improve the speed at which things ‘happened’ in the interface"

And yet both iTunes and iPhoto feel very sluggish on my quite recent PowerBook. Apparently one Steve is not enough :)

Thanks, Mike! It's wonderful to read about your stint at Apple.

Hi Mike,

This is one of the best descriptions of Steve I have read. I am reading with so-so feelings the book "iCon Steve Jobs : The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business" Can you share your opinion on this book. Can't wait to get the finished copy of yours. Are you planning on doing personal appearences for this book. I will love to see you here in Puerto Rico at our local Borders.
