Sneak preview of some future topics
It’s very gratifying that people are beginning to find the site, but it’s made me nervous about how little content I’ve got up so far. (hey, if writing a book was easy, everyone would do it.)
In the interest of trying to get you to come back again, let me tease you with a few upcoming segments:
Did Steve really throw a digital camera at an Apple employee during his MacWorld keynote? I’ll tell you the never-before-told story of what went wrong that day.
How did it happen that Astarte, the company who made Toast and DVDirector, became part of Apple?
Riding in the elevator with Steve Jobs – There is a persistent myth that riding with Steve is one of the most-feared experiences for an Apple employee.
What’s it like to be chewed out by Steve – I’ve got some experience with this.
What goes on behind the scenes of an Apple keynote presentation? This could be a whole book in itself, but I’ll leave that to someone else (Stef? Wayne? You there?)
These are just a few of the things I’ll be writing in the coming weeks. Please stop by and check it out. And be sure to leave comments so I know if I’m on the right track with this whole online-book-writing thing.

Your are definitely on the right track with this. Know how to make money ?
Fascinating, but why write “online” and not publish?
Hi Blinx,
I’ll be publishing too, once it’s ready. See the FAQ for a bit more info.
“What’s it like to be chewed out by Steve – I’ve got some experience with this.”
EVerybody knows people get chewed out by Steve from time to time. What I’d really like to know is if Steve chews out his other top execs (oh, say, Jonathan Ive or Jon Rubinstein) the same way he does ordinary employees?
Hi Mr Evangelist, promising try
…but dont forget the hard, dirty work. To write a book is just like any other job: You’ve got to do your hours. I have read your first attempts so far, and it is promising, but also worrying. You have written no real lengthy part yet; will you really have the patience and endurance to put an entire book together? Your project is promising and your background material is unique, but remember that a book is not just a collection of sub-paragraphs and anecdotes. It must be bound together and gathered as a whole, not just small pieces scattered around. I look forward to the real first 10000-word chapter!
Please take this criticism as a challenge and not as a downer. No one would be happier than me if this would be a (no, THE) great book about Apple, but you have a lot left to prove.
with encouraging regards, Magnus
Hi Magnus,
Do I have what it takes? I honestly have no idea. This is an experiment, both to see if I can make an interesting book out of my experiences, and if the idea of writing it in front of the unflinching eye of the Apple watchers is good or not.
Thanks for your input!
Mike
This is a great idea. all of the stories have been great so far.
Magnus: What about ‘revolution in the valley’? That doesn’t have any 10000 word chapters, and it still is a great book!
Great stories sneak preview ideas, I will love to read all those stories!
