Oh Baby, I’m in iPod Heaven Now!

I was powerless…the iPod monkey on my back forced me to buy a new 5th generation iPod this week.

Superman on iPod

Boy is it sweet! And thanks to an awesome free software tool called Handbrake, it’s a cinch to transcode stuff from DVD for playback on the iPod. This came in very handy for loading up all 26 episodes of the new Adventures of Superman, which came out on DVD a couple weeks ago. Talk about a baby-boomer, gadget-freak’s dream come true!

Handbrake is available here for Mac, BeOS and Linux.

  1. …Video iPod…Argh!…Didn’t think of this. My resistance crumbles…

Don’t you get discount or free goods from Apple? What are the employee benefits like when it comes to hardware, software and incentives…stuff along those lines.

    He’s not an employee anymore.

  4. While I know that this stuff probably won’t make it into the book since it is fast outdated and slightly off-topic, I enjoy reading any posts that mention current products. Would you mind doing a simple entry just listing what you have in your Applications folder right now? Or a screenshot of your Dock? Thanks!

  5. Michael – I’m not sure too many people would be interested in my cluttered Applications folder, but here’s a shot. I don’t keep anything in my dock; it just holds whatever is currently running. I use DragThing to organize the many different apps and server volumes I need to get to quickly.

You know, there’s one thing I seriously like about both CopyWrite and MacJournal, and that’s the Full-Screen option. I find this excellent for any serious writer for those days when any superfluous screen decoration is a distraction. I registered MacJournal but gave CopyWrite a miss as it requires “activation” as well as purchasing a serial no. Something I personally don’t like. :)
